PUSHING YOURSELF BEYOND YOUR LIMITS
The mind is a funny thing, we want to give up, we think we won’t be able to go on. However, we can change that. It’s all a mental state of mind.
Ever since I’ve started CrossFit the end of August 2016, after not having done any exercise for almost 20 years, I have been pushing myself beyond what I felt were my limits. Some days are easier than others.
I have changed my attitude towards exercise, firstly there is not 1 exercise I hate.. I might not like it as much as others, but I’ll always find a silver lining to push through it. It just makes it easier.
Take today, Monday morning 8 am CrossFit workout, after warm-up and core training, we have our WOD (workout of the day)
Burpees are my least favourite exercise, due to the pain in my knees and it’s just hard work, doing 21 of them, after 21 front squats, and followed by 21 dumbbell snatches, then same routine but 15 of them and to finish it off same exercises but 9 of them. Whilst doing the 21 burpees, I thought I won’t be able to finnish this WOD, it’s just too hard on my knees.. but then I broke it down in little chunks, got to 10 burpees, at 11, I told myself I’m over half way.. No great mystery, I did finish my WOD and it felt fabulous.
There is no greater feat than to push yourself beyond your limits, because the body can, it’s the mind playing tricks.
